FERNANDEZ. En un principio el grupo se llamó ART ZOYD III, razón por la que también se le conoce al grupo así. Desde sus inicios hasta 1979, alrededor de 30 miembros circularon por el grupo y no fue sino hasta 1976 que se definieron como ART ZOYD y con ese nombre realizaron su álbum debut "Symphonie Pour le Jour Ou Bruleront les Cites". Cuando se habla de ART ZOYD es casi irremediable mencionar a grupos como HENRY COW, EINSTÜRZENDE NEUBAUTEN, PRESENT, MAGMA o UNIVERS ZERO. Y es que todos ellos han creado una tradición paralela en lo que a ruido organizado se refiere. ART ZOYD grabó (inspirado en MAGMA) su primer disco en 1976, y una larga tradición nació con él. Caracterizado por un sonido avant garde, fuertemente sustentado por trompeta y con un estilo de ruptura inesperada, este grupo también es una muestra clara de lo que RIO ("Rock En Oposición" por sus siglas en inglés) quiere decir. Considerados en espacios de rock progresivo por lo poco usual de sus construcciones musicales, grupos como éste reflejan más una música contemporánea actual, que un rock progresivo actual. Algo así como la música de Béla BARTÓK si él viviera en estos tiempos.
