En aquellos años los «chicos» de Hawkwind, bajo el liderato de quien ha sido el único miembro de la banda a lo largo de todos estos años que es parte de la alineación original, el vocalista, guitarrista y liricista del grupo Dave Brock, consiguieron una oferta de grabación con Liberty Records que los impulsaría a la fama y a la consagración en este particular estilo. Si bien es cierto, en sus comienzos la influencia del grupo era el blues, rápidamente su oferta adquirió tintes propios y se hizo clara: ROCK. «Space Rock». Puro, desordenado, pegado y pesado. Tal vez un tanto menos «psicotizado» de lo que nos acosumbró The Pink Floyd Sound durante esos años (estos chicos no disponían de un Barrett en las guitarras y las vocales), pero no así menos potente e interesante.
