MANÁ Los orígenes de Maná se remontan a un grupo musical llamado Sombrero Verde, cuyos integrantes Fernando Olvera, como voz; Gustavo Orozco, a la guitarra eléctrica; y los hermanos Calleros: Juan Diego, al bajo, Ulises, a la guitarra eléctrica y Abraham, a la batería originarios de Guadalajara. En 1978, habían decidido juntarse para tocar distintos temas de varios grupos a los que admiraban, entre ellos The Beatlesy Led Zeppelin. Inicialmente, se hacían llamar The Green Hat Spies, pero pronto el nombre se abrevió en Green Hat y, finalmente, se adaptó al español como Sombrero Verde, cambio que también se reflejó en el repertorio que se dedicaron a tocar.Hacia mediados de la década de los ochenta, comenzó en México el movimiento denominado Rock en tu idioma; como consecuencia de ello, aparecieron varios grupos mexicanos formados con jóvenes de la clase media y con influencias musicales de bandas como The Police,The Cure, Paralamas do Sucesso, Led Zeppelin y otros. Surgieron, así, las bandas líderes del movimiento: Caifanes, Maldita Vecindad, Café Tacuba y, entre ellas, Maná, logrando éxito no solo a nivel local sino también internacionalmente.
