Cuando aparece en Gotham City un hombre conocido como Red Hood, Batman se verá forzado a frenarle los pies. Red Hood, mitad vigilante mitad criminal, comenzará a hacer el mismo trabajo que Batman, aunque bajo otro código moral: matar es una opción.
Batman se enfrenta a su último desafío como el misterioso Capucha Roja tiene la ciudad de Gotham por tormenta de fuego. Un vigilante parte, capo de una parte penal, Red Hood comienza la limpieza de Gotham con la eficiencia de Batman, pero sin seguir el código ético mismo. Matar es una opción. Y cuando el Joker entra en el equilibrio entre los dos, duras verdades se revelan y se volvió a abrir viejas heridas.
