The 19-track DVD hosts over two hours of performances filmed during the past 10 years at the lauded UK festival, featuring a wide array of rock, electronica and alternative music greats that showcase the influential UK music fest's diversity and unfailingly stellar artist line-ups.
Opening with Franz Ferdinand's "Matinee" and including many seminal Glastonbury moments from some of music's top stars, including Radiohead, Coldplay, and Moby, and closing with Paul McCartney's unforgettable 2004 performance of "Hey Jude," the Glastonbury Anthems DVD is an essential record of the festival's enduring legacy of incredible musical moments.
Also included are several bonus features, including documentation of the Glastonbury grounds by air and foot, an interview with the festival's creative team of Michael and Jean Eavis, and a photo gallery.
Since it began in 1970, Glastonbury Festival, held annually on 900 acres in the Vale of Avalon, England, is one of the biggest, most divine and distinguished events in the music calendar. Now in its 34th year, the three-day event has been considered the inspiration behind newer festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo, attracting revelers from around the world to experience its unique atmosphere.
With several distinct festival areas, including "Jazzworld," "Lost Vagueness," and "Sacred Space," music lovers are free to move through their own musical microcosms, while witnessing outstanding performances by some of the world's most influential artists.
For the past 10 years the festival has been filmed for U.K. television, and consequently, there now exists an archive of exceptional live performances, many of which are available for the first time on DVD with the release of Glastonbury Anthems: The Best Of 1994-2004. Known for their commitment to the festival's fans, Glastonbury's organizers turned to the fans for guidance when compiling the new DVD.
Glastonbury Anthems producer Ben Challis comments, "We had over 30,000 votes on the official website for people's favorites and our fans went for a wide and disparate collection of artists. The performances are exciting, moving, and stunning. It has taken us ten years to get the first official Glastonbury DVD out but I am convinced it is well worth the wait."
