Arcade Fire built its reputation on some incendiary live shows, so a documentary about the touring undertaken to promote the Neon Bible album is a logical step for the band. Miroir Noir is artfully shot in black and white, courtesy of director Vincent Morisset and his cameraman (and Blogotheque founder) Vincent Moon. Morisset deviates from the kind of stock footage that usually proliferates throughout such ventures, instead preferring to spell out the lyrics to “Intervention” so viewers can sing along, and shooting the band members during one of their meditation sessions. But it’s the live footage that will really draw fans in, and Morisset and Moon expertly capture the joy de vivre of an Arcade Fire show, especially when they delve into powerful Funeral material such as “Rebellion (Lies) and "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out).”
