[b]Sarah Michelle Prinze[/b] (née [b]Gellar[/b]; born April 14, 1977), better known as [b]Sarah Michelle Gellar[/b], is an American actress and producer. After being found by an agent in a local restaurant in New York City, she had a role in the made-for-TV movie [i]An Invasion of Privacy[/i] and went on to appear in shows like [i]Spenser: For Hire[/i]. She originated the role of Kendall Hart on the ABC daytime soap opera [i]All My Children[/i], winning the 1995 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series.

Gellar came into prominence in the late 1990s when she landed significant parts in the successful horror films [i]I Know What You Did Last Summer[/i] and [i]Scream 2[/i] and played Buffy Summers on the WB/UPN television series [i]Buffy the Vampire Slayer[/i], for which she won six Teen Choice Awards and the Saturn Award for Best Genre TV Actress and received a Golden Globe Award nomination. She found film critics praise for her performance in the teen drama [i]Cruel Intentions[/i] (1999) and she subsequently appeared in the box office hits [i]Scooby-Doo[/i] (2002), [i]Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed[/i] (2004), and the American remake of Japanese horror film [i]The Grudge[/i] (2004). Since then she has starred in limited released and straight-to-video films such as 2006's [i]Southland Tales[/i], 2007's [i]Suburban Girl[/i] and 2008's [i]The Air I Breathe[/i]. She also had the main role in the television series [i]Ringer[/i].
