Zorin OS Pro Lite 16 is a Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS-based distribution designed for Linux newbies. The main goal of the distribution is to provide Windows users with an alternative Linux system that will allow them to enjoy all the platform's functions without any difficulty. We've followed your feedback closely while designing and building Zorin OS 16 so you can have the best and most perfect computer experience!

What's new:
• New desktop layout in the style of Windows 11
We are introducing a completely new desktop layout in Zorin Appearance that resembles the default in Windows 11. It features a modern and streamlined user interface that adapts well to computers with touchpads, mice, or touchscreens. The new grid menu, action browse button, and taskbar icons are front and center for easy access and easy navigation across screens of all sizes.
A Windows 11-like desktop layout is available as an option in Zorin OS 16 Pro.

• Stunning new look
Zorin OS 16 has been updated with a new and improved look and feel right out of the box. We've introduced a new, more refined default theme that's easier on the eyes. You will find detailed touches and delightful animations throughout the system that will enhance your computing experience.
We also introduced new images and wallpapers for your desktop. By default, you are greeted with dynamic wallpapers that change depending on the time of day.

The lock screen now displays a blurry version of the desktop wallpaper.

Faster and smoother operation
In Zorin OS 16, speed was at the center of attention, so the desktop is significantly faster on a wide variety of hardware, both old and new. Performance optimizations have been made at all levels of the operating system, from the kernel to the desktop environment. Apps open faster, animations are smoother, and load times are shorter, so you can spend more time being productive.

• Large application library: Flathub is now included
You will notice that there are more applications available for installation from the software store in Zorin OS 16 than ever before. This is thanks to the addition of the Flathub repository to Zorin OS out of the box. Flathub is the de facto standard repository from where you can get apps using the Flatpak package format. It has grown into a huge ecosystem of apps and games from many independent developers, as well as software directly from well-known companies like Spotify, Zoom, and Mojang.

• Zorin OS now comes preloaded with Flathub app directories , Snap store and APT Ubuntu and Zorin OS repositories, and the ability to install .deb and AppImage packages and Windows applications (optionally using WINE). This makes Zorin OS 16 the largest application library available out of the box of any open source desktop.

• Supported package managers
The built-in software store has also received many internal optimizations as well as user interface improvements to make it easier to find and install apps from different sources. If the app is available from multiple sources (such as Flathub and Snap store), you can select a different source from the Source menu on the app list page.

• Drop-down menu of software sources
However, the software store maintains a simple and unified user interface, so you can find and install the latest versions of the applications you want with one click, without worrying about which source code or application package format to use.

• Getting started is easier with the Tour
New Tour is the best place to experience Zorin OS. When you log in for the first time, the Overview will walk you through the basics of using and customizing your desktop, connecting your Internet accounts, connecting your phone to your computer using Zorin Connect, and installing the software you need to work and play. This is the most convenient way to go from beginner to Zorin OS pro and customize your desktop to work best for you.

• Fast navigation with touchpad gestures
If you're using a laptop, switching between apps and workspaces is even faster and easier. Zorin OS 16 introduces multi-touch touchpad gestures available right out of the box. You can now switch between workspaces in a smooth 1: 1 motion by swiping up or down with 4 fingers. Squeeze the touchpad with three fingers to open an overview of activities and see at a glance every application running in your workplace.

• New application for recording sound
The new Sound Recorder app provides an easy and beautiful way to record and play audio and speech. Whether you're creating a voice memo for yourself or creating a podcast, the Sound Recorder app adapts to your workflow and makes audio recording easy.

More customizable taskbar
The Zorin OS 16 desktop is now more customizable than ever with new taskbar and panel settings. Just right click on the taskbar to access the taskbar settings, where you can now:

• New features
Move the panel to the left or right side of the screen besides the top and bottom.
Set transparency and panel size
Display panel on multiple monitors
Show / Hide and Move Panel Buttons and Indicators
Select to display system tray icons only for applications running in the current workspace or monitor.
Change behavior when clicking or scrolling app icons on the taskbar
Show / hide window previews and tooltips when hovering over application icons in the taskbar
Auto show / hide panel intelligently
Zorin's appearance has been changed.
Speaking of customization, we've now made the look and feel of Zorin even easier to use and navigate. Zorin Appearance allows you to choose a different desktop layout, change the theme of the application and icons, choose a desktop font, and make other changes to the desktop to make it truly yours.

• In Zorin OS 16, we updated the app layout to make it easier to find customization options, with the category tabs moved from the top to the left of the window. Desktop layouts have also been split into a dedicated tab, so you can now set the size of your desktop icons independently of the Files app.

- Disabled built-in tracking and telemetry in Firefox for more private web browsing.

• This is just a scratch of what is new and better in Zorin OS 16.
