Whatever you were doing in 1975 and whoever you were doing it with (or to), these are the songs you were doing it to, presented by the host who played the hits from coast to coast , Casey Kasem!

Music News from 1975

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: This marked the debut of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, a movie that would become a cult favorite for album rock fans for years to come.

The Midas Touch: Pop/Rock star Elton John tore up the Top 40 charts with three number one hits and a fourth on which he sang backup. He scored top hits with the Beatles' Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, and his own songs Philadelphia Freedom and Island Girl. To top it off, he backed up fellow pop star Neil Sedaka on his chart topper Bad Blood. Although he never had a year like the Beatles in 1964 or the Supremes in the mid to late 60's, Elton John was said to have the "Midas Touch" in 1975, because every song he touch seemed to turn into a gold record.

Fans Remain Fickle: Although the number of songs at number one (35) for the year would fall one shy of the record set the previous year, music fans still gave many different songs turns at the top of the charts. With this, another record was set in '75, this time for the most consecutive weeks with songs at number one for only one week. From Barry Manilow's Mandy in January to the late Minnie Riperton's Lovin' You in April, 12 songs in 12 weeks appeared at number one on the Hot 100. The artist who preceded the streak also ended it with a pair of songs that spent 2 weeks at number one. Who was that? Who else? Elton John.

All of the songs that hit the weekly Top 40 pop charts in 1975, according to Billboard Magazine.
