Sinopsis

Nueva Inglaterra, 1630. Ante la amenaza de ser repudiado por su iglesia, un granjero inglés decide abandonar el pueblo y establecerse en plena naturaleza con su esposa y cinco hijos, en medio de un inhóspito bosque donde habita algo maléfico y desconocido. Enseguida empiezan a pasar cosas extrañas: los animales se vuelven agresivos, la cosecha no prospera, uno de los niños desaparece mientras que otro parece estar poseído por un espíritu maléfico… Las sospechas y la paranoia aumentan, y la familia acusa de brujería a Thomasin, la hija adolescente, algo que ella niega rotundamente. Las circunstancias empeoran, y la fe, lealtad y afecto de los miembros de la familia son puestos a prueba de manera inimaginable.
