The unforgettable musical highlights at the Stravinski Auditorium included the opening of the festivities with an excellent concert by Bob Dylan; another torrid Brazilian weekend in the company of the splendid Marisa Monte, the indefatigable Gilberto Gil, the amazing Antulio Madureira and the great Banda Eva; an extraordinary blues evening with Buddy Guy and B.B. King; Herbie Hancock and The Headhunters reunited; a marathon concert performed by Carlos Santana (lasting over three hours!); the Icelandic 'phenomenon' that's Björk; a first ever performance for children with Henri Dès; a flamenco evening with Spanish star Joaquín Cortés; a memorable Atlantic Night with Phil Collins and his Big Band; the sumptuous voices of Cassandra Wilson and Al Jarreau; performances by George Benson, Michel Petrucciani, Bootsy Collins, Earth Wind and Fire, Candy Dulfer and Jorge Ben Jor; and last but not least, the discovery of an extraordinary young blues player - Kenny Wayne Shepherd. For its part, the Miles Davis Hall, making a striking debut on the Festival programme, hosted several evenings featuring emerging musical trends - techno, electro-rock, drum'n'bass, hip hop, acid jazz and so on, the most amazing of which were the electro-acoustic variations of Pierre Henry, the virtual frenzy whipped up by Jaron Lanier, and the Detour world music evening. The 'small' Festival hall was also graced with big names such as Les McCann, Billy Cobham, George Duke and The Corrs. Lastly, let us not forget Festival Off, the two boats, Samba and Salsa, the Montreux Jazz Café, the workshops and the acoustic concerts.Download P1Download P2
