Where so many of their contemporaries had failed to stretch their fame beyond the British coastline, Ride were truly a global success. The 4000 tickets for the Japanese tour sold out in 12 minutes, and 'Nowhere' went Top 10 there. 'Vapour Trail' from the album was also a huge US radio hit. As people, the band's time wasn't their own anymore. It seemed a long, long time ago that they'd first jammed together in Loz's Mum's garage. Actually, it had been barely two years..."Going Blank Again(Re-issued 24th September 2001) 1992 320kbpsLeave Them All BehindTwisterellaNot FazedChrome WavesMouse TrapTime Of Her TimeCool Your BootsMaking Judy SmileTime MachineOX4Extra tracks:Going Blank AgainHoward HughesStampedeGrasshopper "...Withdrawing to rural Chipping Norton with Alan Moulder at the production controls, they focussed on that chemistry, recording 25 tracks, from which the ten great ones formed 'Going Blank Again'. It was an astonishing LP that bore no trace of 'difficult second album' syndrome, soaring off boldly beyond anything that they, or any of their piddling peers, had achieved thus far. Its title sarcastically swiped at critics who alleged that Ride were vacant, had nothing to say. And 'Leave Them All Behind', which trailered it in February '92, was as eloquent a mission statement as you could've wished for..."Smile 1992 320kbpsChelsea GirlDrive BlindAll I Can SeeClose My EyesLike A DaydreamSilverFurthest SensePerfect Time "...These were glory days for Ride. They'd very effectively legged it clear of the pack that had formed around them, and scaled the industry ladder to the point where, following an exhaustive and exhausting world tour - their second in as many years, they would play one slot below Loz's all-time heroes Public Enemy at Reading ' If you're holding the full-tilt box-set version of this 'Best Of', you can hear for yourself just how mind-meltingly brilliant they were live around this time..."Carnival Of Light 1994 320kbpsMoonlight Medicine1000 MilesFrom Time to TimeNatural GraceOnly NowBirdmanCrown Of CreationHow Does It Feel To Feel?Endless RoadMagical SpringRolling ThunderI Don't Know Where It Comes From "...The fish-eye sleeve shot of the band spoke volumes to fans of lysergic history. The grungy cover of 'How Does It Feel To Feel?' by The Creation (the '60s garage-psych band who'd given McGee's label its name) harked back to familiar sounds, but for the rest, Ride strode boldly forward from behind their habitual wall of feedback and, as they'd promised before, just let it flow. Mark's 'From Time To Time' revelled in discovering the cleaner sound that electricity can emit, allowing out the kind of harmony-lit West Coast melody that had always lurked within. And then there was 'I Don't Know Where It Comes From', Andy's lazy/daisy strumalong which unabashedly came in with a kiddies' choir..."Tarantula 1996 320kbpsBlack Nite Crash2,Sunshine / Nowhere To RunDead ManWalk On WaterDeep Inside My PocketMary AnneCastle On The HillGonna Be AlrightThe Dawn PatrolRide The WindBurnin'Starlight Motel "...It must've been a bastard to know what to do next. They each had their own ideas. It's a miracle that they came up with anything at all, but what they recorded through 1995 was 'Tarantula', another quantum leap forward. By the time it was released in March '96 (cover: a screen-print image of a revolver aimed in yo' face), the band had announced that they had effectively split up..."Triple CD box set 2001 320kbpsOX4_ The Best of RideChelsea GirlDrive BlindLike A DaydreamTasteDreams Burn DownVapour TrailUnfamiliarLeave Them All BehindTwisterellaOX4BirdmanFrom Time To TimeHow Does It Feel To Feel?I Don't Know Where It Comes FromBlack Nite Crash "...So, yes, come the tail end of 1989, there was a mood of battered, hopeless optimism. As we took our huddled flight into the Nineties, a bolt from nowhere, from Oxford, overturned the inherent pessimism in that optimism and gave us something to believe in. Ride had tunes, noise, looks, style, confidence, everything. And they had youth: their two guitar-playing singers Mark Gardener and Andy Bell were both just 19, as was drummer Laurence 'Loz' Colbert. Stephen Queralt, the bassist, was an oldster at .."Firing Blanks_ Unreleased Ride Recordings 1988-95Something's BurningChelsea Girl [4-track demo]BlueDreams Burn Down DubShe's So FineNew AgeTongue TiedEverybody KnowsI'm Fine ThanksXmas SongKing BullshitSmile [4-track demo]Welcome To ParadiseIn A Different Place (Differently)BarneyS "...Despite their tender age, it was clear these guys had an acute sense of balance between good and evil, beauty/tunes and destruction noise. That balance shifted towards the macabre on the second track, 'Drive Blind', which at one point broke apart into a holocaust of feedback which, onstage, they'd often prolong for several eye-popping minutes. Again, though, through the darkness, the song was all ambition. Ride were at the wheel, window down, shades on, screeching gleefully toward the vanishing point of a new horizon, and who knew what was waiting beyond..."Live at Reading Festival 1992Leave Them All BehindTasteNot FazedSennenLike A DaydreamTwisterellaTime Of Her TimeNowhereVapour TrailSeagullClose My EyesMouse Trap***EPs and Promo CD`s***Chelsea Girl EP 1989 320kbps Chelsea girl Drive blind All I can see Close my eyesPlay EP 1990 320kbpsLike A DaydreamSilverFurthest SensePerfect TimeKaleidoscope(US promo CD) 1991 320kbpsKaleidoscopeSeagull - liveDreams Burn Down - liveVapour Trail - liveIn a Different Place - liveNowhere - liveDrive Blind - liveVapour Trail 1991 260kbps VBR VOVapour TrailUnfamiliarSennenBeneathToday Forever EP 1991 320kbps Unfamiliar Sennen Beneath TodayTwisterella EP 1992 320kbpsTwisterellaGoing Blank AgainHoward HughesStampedeOverdrive 1992 236kbps VBRSeagull - liveTaste - liveDreams Burn Down - liveVapour Trail - liveChelsea Girl - liveDrive Blind - liveVapour Trail - livePerfect Time - liveToday - liveSeagull - liveIn A Different Place - liveNowhere - liveBirdman EP 1994 216kbps VBR VOBirdmanRolling Thunder #2Let's Get LostDon't Let it DieI Don't Know Where It Comes From EP 1994 320kbps01 I Don't Know Where It Comes From02 Drive Blind03 From Time To Time04 How Does It Feel To Feel?
