Mavis Staples, gospel and soul singer born in 1940 in Chicago. Most of his career has been spent as a member of The Staple Singers. He was born in Chicago in 1940. Since 1951 was part of The Staple Singers with Roebuck "Pops" Staples, Pervis Staples, Staples and Cleotha Yvonne Staples. In 1969 he began his solo career in the subsidiary label Stax, Volt, he recorded his first album.
