Robert Calvin Bland (January 27, 1930 - June 23, 2013) also known as Bobby "Blue" Bland, was an American blues and soul singer. He was one of the original members of the group The Beale Streeters and like artists like Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Junior Parker, Bland cultivated a sound derived from the mix of gospel with blues and R & B. In 1992 he was admitted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 1997 received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
