SINOPSIS:

 

Dick Harper (Jim Carrey) trabaja en una compañía llamada "Globodyne". Un día es ascendido a vice-presidente de comunicaciones y se le asigna el trabajo de ir al programa de televisión Money Talk para explicar la situación económica de la compañía. Dick es humillado al aire mientras la compañía quiebra.

Jack McCallister (Alec Baldwin), jefe de Dick queda con más de 400 millones de dólares después de la quiebra de la compañía, mientras que todos los empleados peligran en mantener sus casas ya que la mayoría de sus bienes estaban ligados a la compañía. Al no encontrar trabajo Dick y su esposa Jane (Téa Leoni) se dedican al robo para poder vivir. Cuando descubren que ex empleados de Globodyne usaban métodos poco convencionales para sobrevivir como ellos, deciden engañar a McCallister transfiriendo su dinero a otra cuenta.
