Ha sido el disco más vendido de la banda hasta la fecha, alcanzando más de 20 millones de copias vendidas en todo el mundo. Fue producido por Robert John "Mutt" Lange.

El álbum lanzó siete sencillos: "Women", "Animal", "Hysteria", "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Love Bites", "Armageddon It" y "Rocket". El sencillo más exitoso fue la balada "Love Bites" que llegó al número uno del Billboard Hot 100.
