Sus graves problemas con el alcohol han destrozado a su familia, pero llega un momento en que, arrepentido, deja la bebida y decide entrenar a su hijo más joven (Tom Hardy) para que participe en un torneo de artes marciales, en el que se enfrentará a su hermano mayor (Joel Edgerton).
