Youngblood Brass Band are focused on creating consistently progressive, acoustic, radical, groundbreaking music, employing whatever sonic means necessary to do so - as well as being violently committed to revolutionizing music education one child at a time. This is hip hop, punk, jazz, life, movement, tradition, family, sound, space and song rolled up into 6 horns, 2 drummers, a sousaphonist and an MC.

They are an Ozone Music NYC recording artist, in the tradition of Saul Williams, Mike Ladd, Sonic Sum, Anti-Pop Consortium and Company Flow. Ozone is sister-label to El-P's Definitive Jux Records. They have travelled around the world, and have been a long independent torch in the corporate-funded floodlights of commercial radio, even breaking the top 15 in Belgium and Austria.

Youngblood are also founders/figureheads for layered, a non-profit organization that functions as independent record label, literature publishing company, sheet music publishing company and database/forum for the like-minded educators and artists looking to work together with schools and community groups. Layered is a collective of young writers, artists, activists, teachers and musicians doing everything they can do to ignite your local populace and find low-cost, independent ways to get music/books in the hands and heads of children everywhere.
