La infancia de Lawrence Talbot se acabó bruscamente la noche en que murió su madre. Abandonó entonces su pueblo (Blackmoor), pero tardó muchos años en recuperarse y olvidar. Un día, Gwen Conliffe, la prometida de su hermano lo encuentra y le pide que le ayude a buscarlo, pues ha desaparecido. Talbot regresa entonces a casa y se entera de que un ser brutal y sediento de sangre ha matado a muchos campesinos. Pronto descubre que existe una antigua maldición que convierte a las víctimas en hombres lobo las noches de luna llena. Para acabar con la matanza y proteger a la mujer de la que se ha enamorado, Talbot debe destruir a la temible criatura que se esconde en los bosques cercanos al pueblo. Cuando, finalmente, sale en busca de la bestia, descubre que él también tiene un lado oscuro y primitivo que no podía ni siquiera imaginar. Remake del clásico de 1941 de Curt Siodmak.
