Tras huír de los mortífagos viajando por Inglaterra, y luego de encontrar y destruir un Horrocrux, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) y sus amigos Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) y Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) descubren que uno está en Hogwarts. Mientras tanto el colegio, ahora dirigido por Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) y en manos de los mortífagos, recoge la batalla final cuando Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) descubre que el joven mago está acabando con él. Ahora, Harry se encuentra en una carrera a contrareloj para acabar con su mayor enemigo o ser él quién muera en el intento.
