La cinta sigue a Mary Kee, una mujer recien divorciada a la que le comienzan a suceder cosas muy extrañas después de encontrar un viejo teléfono en su apartamento. Esta comienza a recibir misteriosas llamadas telefónicas de un desconocido, que consiguen incomodarla hasta el punto de sentirse perseguida y vigilada en su propia casa. El profesor Guidi, amigo de Mary, tratará de ayudarla a conocer la procedencia de tan misteriosas llamadas. Pero cuando Mary descubre que esa terrorífica comunicación viene del pasado, trata de romper el contacto. Sólo hay un problema, la persona que llama no le gusta ser ignorado y planea vengarse de una manera única y aterradora. Mary deberá acabar con ella si quiere sobrevivir. Pero… ¿Cómo acabar con alguien que vive en el pasado?
