Henry (Reeves) es un hombre sencillo sin ninguna ambición particular en la vida que, de casualidad, es acusado y encarcelado por un robo a un banco que no ha cometido. Sin embargo, cuando Henry queda libre no se le ocurre mejor idea que, ya puestos y junto a su compañero de celda también ya libre, robar ese mismo banco que no ha robado pero por el cual ya ha sido juzgado... y para ello se infiltrará en una compañía de teatro local, donde sin querer se enamorará de la protagonista.
