Elizabeth (Cameron Díaz) es una profesora despiadada, grosera, malhablada y absolutamente irresponsable: bebe, se coloca y sólo piensa en encontrar un buen partido para poder dejar de trabajar. Cuando su prometido la deja, pone en marcha un plan para conquistar a un rico y guapo profesor (Justin Timberlake); pero, para ello, tendrá que competir con la modélica Amy (Lucy Punch), una profesora hiperactiva y llena de energía. Al mismo tiempo, un sarcástico e irreverente profesor de gimnasia (Jason Segel) no para de tirarle los tejos. Sus desvergonzadas y escandalosas argucias transmitirán a sus alumnos y colegas una educación anticonvencional, ya que “lo que ella enseña, no está en los libros”.
