Sinopsis

Querido y de confianza para sus hombres, respetado como el capitán de submarinos
con mayor experiencia de la Marina soviética, el Capitán Mikhail Polenin es
destituido del mando del K-19 cuando el liderazgo soviético decide que no
está preparando su submarino insignia lo suficientemente rápido para su
primer travesía. En su lugar, el Capitán Alexei Vostrikov un oficial
estrictamente "orientado a la misión" y con una voluntad de hierro,
consigue sacar el K-19 al mar exactamente a la hora programada
16:00 horas del día 18 de Junio de 1961.
