SINOPSIS
John James (Kevin Costner) es un novelista de éxito recientemente divorciado que decide trasladarse a una apartada granja de Carolina del Sur con sus hijos, el pequeño Sam (Gattlin Griffith) y Louisa (Ivana Baquero), una joven en plena adolescencia que no está nada conforme con vivir apartada de la ciudad. Pronto, la familia comienza a escuchar extraños ruidos y golpes en el tejado durante la noche que parecen estar relacionados con un antiguo montículo funerario ubicado en los límites de su propiedad. Conforme pasan los días, Louisa cada vez se siente más atraída hacia el montículo, pero su comportamiento empieza a cambiar, hasta el punto de que parece estar convirtiéndose en otra persona... O en algo mucho peor...
