Poder elegir el comportamiento del teclado virtual en móviles y el modo de ahorro de energía son algunas de las actualizaciones de Google Chrome 108. El navegador ya se encuentra disponible para ser descargado en la mayoría de dispositivos.

La nueva versión trae cambios interesantes, no solo para los usuarios que usan Google Chrome, como navegador predeterminado en sus computadores o dispositivos móviles, sino para los desarrolladores de sitios web. Google ha anunciado la actualización para Android, sin embargo en los próximos días, las personas podrán descargar la última edición en el resto de plataformas, incluyendo iOS, Windows, ChromeOS, macOS y Linux.

“Esta versión incluye mejoras de estabilidad y rendimiento. Las versiones de Android contienen las mismas correcciones de seguridad que su versión de escritorio correspondiente (Windows: 108.0.5359.71/.72, Mac y Linux: 108.0.5359.71)”, explica Google.

 

Novedades de Google Chrome 108

Aunque el gigante tecnológico había alertado sobre una posible vulnerabilidad en cuanto a seguridad en las anteriores versiones, con este lanzamiento de Chrome 108 estos problemas ya han sido resueltos y los usuarios estarían fuera de peligro.

 

Uno de los cambios más novedosos de esta edición de Chrome, es que le permitirá a los creadores de sitios web elegir el comportamiento del teclado virtual en móviles. Es decir, el teclado aparecerá sobre el contenido del sitio web. También, los desarrolladores podrán hacer que el contenido cambie de tamaño para adaptarse al espacio existente con el teclado desplegado.

 

Las extensiones de Google Chrome imprescindibles para el 2023

En la nueva versión está incluido el soporte para el formato de fuentes COLRv1. La gran ventaja de este sistema es que permite utilizar emojis y fuentes coloridas ocupando un espacio mínimo.

En el caso de Android, hay un diseño nuevo para la barra de búsqueda, esto con el objetivo “de adaptarse al lenguaje de diseño Material 3, los resultados de búsqueda ahora aparecen integrados en tarjetas con esquinas redondeadas”. Al menos así lo afirma Andro4all.

Hay que tener en cuenta que este diseño no viene predeterminado; es necesario, “habilitarlo manualmente a través del menú de opciones experimentales o flags. Una vez dentro, hay que activar la opción”. Por último, otra función de Chrome 108 muy útil para los usuarios de Google es el modo de ahorro de energía dirigido a equipos portátiles con Windows o macOS.
